Fear of Death – Aren’t we immortal?
Everyone has all sorts of fears. Fear of death is a common one. It could be due to the fear of the unknown, the fear of loosing contact with loved ones, or the fear of total annihilation. Fear of death can be overcome if we really understand what death is. What we normally fear is physical death as we consider death of the physical body as the death of the person. Physical body is the part we can all see and touch. But physical body is just one aspect of our personality. We have many aspects or dimensions to our personality such as our mind, our emotions and our soul. Physical body, emotions, mind and our soul together make up the person.
Most of the religions teach us that our soul is immortal. Therefore we should be immortal and our soul lives forever. But we cannot be sure of this as nobody has come back and told us that they are still alive. There is evidence to suggest that our life does not end at physical death. One form of evidence comes from communications with dead people via mediums. Some people have the ability to communicate with dead people.
Other evidence comes from accounts of past lives usually given by very young children, which have been verified by researchers. Another source of evidence comes from near death experiences. People who were brought back to life after cardiac arrest, when their brain, heart, and respiration had stopped remember seeing themselves been resuscitated while floating near the ceiling, and witness other events in the emergency room. They remember and recognise the people who resuscitated them afterwards though they were unconscious or clinically dead at the time when they met these people.
Why we are able to survive death is the multi-dimensional nature of our personalities. The problem with things made of physical matter such as our physical bodies is that they all decay and die. This is true of everything made of physical matter such as rocks, houses trees, animals and human beings. This is also true of planets solar systems and galaxies as well.
After the death of the physical body, the other parts of our personality, such as our emotions, mind and soul still remains. The parts of the personality are
1. Physical body
2. Vital or etheric body
3. Astral-emotional body
4. Mind body
5. Soul or Causal body
Lot of people have not heard of the vital or etheric body made of subtle matter or dark matter, which is usually invisible. As lot of the parts of the personality are invisible most people are not aware of these parts except probably the mind. Vital body has various energy centres or charkas, which are usually involved with physical health, well-being and spiritual status. Vital body also dies with the physical body at the time of death. Spiritual growth only happens in the physical world as one needs a physical body to register that growth.
People who have been physically ill and weak may feel more alive after death. Some people consider death as a form of healing, as there is no physical illness after the death of the physical body. People who are dead live in another dimension known as Astral plane or the spirit world. Some people call it heaven but it is not really a heaven for some.
In astral emotional plane people may meet their loved ones who have died before them. You are also able to see and visit your loved ones who are still alive on earth. Only problem is the communication with them, as you no longer have physical mouth or voice box to speak so that others can hear you. When you see Me, you will understand the reasons for your presence in the world.
You are here my friends, to serve the plan of God.
You are here each of you, from love of your brothers.
You are here too, to learn, to expand your knowledge of that Plan and to progress along the Path.
That is the truth of your presence at this time.
Take heed, then, of this opportunity which I present to you: to share with Me in my work of succour, to ease my burden, to unfold God within you and to lead your brothers to Light.
Many there are whom I call.
Many there are who wait and listen.
Few there are, indeed, who seize the time and act.
These few are my people.
May you become one of them
Lord Maitreya
